SLAMDANCE FILM FESTIVAL JOINS WITH INDIEROAD.NET TO STREAM FEST FILMS ONLINE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Viewers Will Experience the Excitement of Slamdance Globally
During the 2009 Festival in Park City, Utah
Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2009, the Slamdance Film Festival has formed a new online venture with INDIEROAD.NET, a website created by a team of veteran entertainment and business executives to address the lack of robust distribution options available to promising new talent in the independent film field. Through a combined Slamdance/INDIEROAD.NET site (www.indieroad.net/slamdance), Slamdance films will stream at the same time the films unspool for the festival crowd in Park City, Utah. Bringing the Festival to a worldwide audience for the first time, this ground breaking partnership will allow audiences who cannot attend the Festival to participate from a location of their choosing, be it home, office or any other wired environment.
“Streaming the Slamdance Festival with INDIEROAD.NET allows our showcase to be shared with a much wider audience and increases value of both film and filmmaker out of the gate,” said Peter Baxter, Co-Founder and President of Slamdance. “Power to the filmmaker!”
In our economically strapped era, the cost to watch will be $9 per film, a bargain for movie buff buddies who can congregate for group viewings. In keeping with INDIEROAD’s company philosophy of providing ample monetary reward to artists, one third of the profits for each film viewed will go directly to the filmmakers.
The online film entries will be available two hours after each premiere at Slamdance.
Each selection will be available in two bandwidths, making the films more viewer- friendly. The films will also be encrypted to protect the content from piracy.
“Our partnership alliance with Slamdance is the first major breakthrough in giving Independent film makers the opportunity to not only be seen in a localized film festival venue, but showcase their film to a worldwide audience,” said Vince Di Pierro, Co-Founder and Creative Director, INDIEROAD.NET. “Distributors and avid independent film viewers shall have the ability to stream these films without leaving their office or home.”
As a year-round organization, Slamdance serves as a showcase for the discovery of new and emerging talent and is dedicated to the nurturing and development of new independent artists and their cinematic vision. Currently celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2009, Slamdance still lives by its mantra: “By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers.” No other festival is fully programmed by real, actual filmmakers. Slamdance is proud to count among its alumni many notable directors who first gained notice at the festival, including such cinematic luminaries as Christopher Nolan, Marc Forster and Jared Hess. New filmmakers and writers today realize that Slamdance is a place to launch their careers. For more information, log onto www.slamdance.com.
