D to the G to the A to the Me

Last night we had the second installment in the trifecta week of party-on-downness that is the life of a Slamdance associate. This time it was the at the DGA, full of shiny things to get you in the christmas spirit like lights, sparkles and American Flags. Just as much fun as the previous night, only maybe a little better lit and no Jessica Simpson playing; the evening was awash with talented individuals, hilarious stories and most importantly, giant sandwiches.

Some of the best stories told all evening (aside from those that cannot be repeated on any form of publicly published blog) were by this handsome devil, Joe Russo. If I had any sort of filmmaking desire or talent I would have considered myself lucky to not just hear his delightful and informed speech about his association with the DGA and how it has helped him throughout the years, but would have been taking notes along the way.*

It was a great evening and yet another chance to get to know all the faces and names behind the films we all fought so hard for this past Programming season. Also a great opportunity to see how many times Drea nearly cries whenever Kurt, from Dear Zachary, speaks about his film.

Tonight is our final installment of shindigs for this week, taking place at one of this blogger's favourite dive bars. Here's hoping everyone can make it down for what will no doubt be a night of randomly selected juke box tunes, an impromptu game of charades and the largest platter of spontaneous hot dogs you have ever seen.  (If you know LA, then you probably know the venue to which I refer...)

* Drea here.  Our very own "Outside Insider" wrote this blog and will be posting things periodically. The degree to which he/she is unimpressed by all things film-related means his/her perspective is a) always amusing and b) probably healthy for the rest of us.
