After nearly two dozen screenings in the last five months on the festival circuit, Slamdance 2008 award winning documentary SONG SUNG BLUE continues to be enthusiastically received by festival audiences, juries and film critics.  Moreover, director Greg Kohs was able to pass on some positive vibes from the man himself:

"I'M HONORED TO HAVE MY SONGS BE A PART OF THIS LOVE STORY." - Neil Diamond

"INCREDIBLY TOUCHING" - Washington Post
"I ABSOLUTELY LIVE TO DISCOVER FILMS LIKE THIS" - Capone @ Ain't It Cool News
"FASCINATING, MESMERIZING" - Toronto NOW
"STRANGER-THAN-FICTION" - Variety
"CHARMING AND PASSIONATE" - KEXP Seattle
"INSPIRATIONAL" - Chicago Sun Times
"SONG SUNG BLUE HITS EVERY NOTE" - The Reeler
"DELICIOUSLY INSPIRING" - Minnesota Daily

SONG SUNG BLUE continues to find its audience being enthusiastically recieved everywhere it screens. The film recently returned from a wonderful screening in Traverse City, Michigan where the film was personally invited by MICHAEL MOORE to participate in the Traverse City Film Festival, an event he helped found.

The next screening will be on a HOT AUGUST NIGHT in New York City.  Rooftop Film's Summer Series will screen SONG SUNG BLUE Saturday, August 16th @ 9PM on Roosevelt Island's South Point Park in New York City. THUNDER and her two kids, RACHEL & DANA are scheduled to be in attendance. The screening is FREE and will be preceded by a Neil Diamond karaoke hour. Attendees are encouraged to email songsungblue@rooftopfilms.com with their name and Neil Diamond song of choice for a chance to sing in front of a huge crowd prior to the screening.

2009 Call for Entries

THE 15TH ANNUAL SLAMDANCE FILM FESTIVAL SEEKS SUBMISSIONS FOR 2009 FESTIVAL!

The 15th Annual Slamdance Film Festival, scheduled to take place, January 15-23, 2009 in Park City, Utah, officially launched its Call for Entries today, looking for short and feature film submissions in all genres.  New this milestone year, Slamdance is also accepting music video submissions.  Entry forms, rules and regulations are available on the Slamdance web site.  The early submission deadline is August 25, 2008 and includes a significant entry fee discount.  The final submission deadline is October 10th.

The 2008 Festival received over 3,300 submissions from all over the world, but only 20 features in the narrative and documentary feature categories combined screened in the main competition, which is strictly devoted to films without domestic theatrical distribution, from first-time feature directors, working with relatively low budgets. Slamdance has remained true to its founding mandate that it is a Festival “by filmmakers, for filmmakers,” whereby the programming team is comprised of filmmakers, many of whom are Slamdance alumni.

Slamdance will screen about 100 films in total.  All film selections will be posted on the 2008 Festival page during the second week of December.  The 2009 Slamdance Film Festival is presented by Kodak.

For the first time, Slamdance will also showcase music videos.  “My background in music video has exposed me to the incredible wealth of videos out there,” said Drea Clark, the Executive Director of the Festival and a former Executive Director of the MVPA (Music Video Production Association).  She is also currently a Lecturer for USC’s Music Video Production course.  “I’ve long felt the medium is highly innovative and artistically viable, which is why we are now accepting such this diverse and explosive art form.”

Slamdance at Bonnaroo!

The Slamdance Film Festival is pleased to join Bonnaroo Cinema by presenting a program of Slamdance short films at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, June 12-25, 2008 in Manchester, Tennessee!  Slamdance short films will be playing at the Bonnaroo Cinema each day of the festival - our featured program includes: Everything Said, The Story of Charles Riverbank, A Catalogue of Anticipations, Sins of the Nude, I Hate You Don't Touch Me or Bat and Hat, Doxology, Origins of Electricity, Kid Show, and Bush vs Bin Laden.  Slamdance is very excited to partner with Bonnaroo this year and we look forward to reporting back from Tennessee.

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee every June. Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of. In addition to dozens of epic performances, the festival's 100-acre entertainment village buzzes around the clock with attractions and activities including a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village. For its peaceful vibe, near-flawless logistics, and unrivaled entertainment options, Rolling Stone magazine named this revolutionary entertainment experience one of the 50 moments that changed the history of rock and roll.  Please visit http://www.bonnaroo.com/ for more information.
